Saved from the waters – Hassan Bleibel

The lagoon city of Venice experienced lately the most significant rise in water levels since 1966. The Italian government has declared the state of emergency, and the mayor has estimated the damages at €1 billion.

According to the Italian Minister of the Environment, "Venice's fragility has increased due to the 'tropicalisation' of the weather, with intense rainfall and strong wind gusts, linked to global warming."
