“Culture is part of Europeans’ life”

She's not the most high-profile figure in Brussels, but there is a EU Commissioner dedicated to Education, Culture and, yes, that EU speciality: Multilingualism. Presseurop met the Cypriot Androulla Vassiliou in Florence, at the Festival d'Europa.

In the city where the Medici, Dante, Botticelli or Masaccio invented modern European culture, EU officials and experts debated the Euro, monetary and financial stability and the place of Europe on the world stage. But what does the EU have to say today about European culture and diversity? Here are Androulla Vassiliou's answers.
