Briefing: Special edition – 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall

Hi and welcome to this special edition of VoxEurop newsletter.

Thirty years ago today, the Berlin Wall fell and Germany – and Europe with it – began a process of reunification which, in many respects, is still incomplete. Eric Hobsbawm's "short twentieth century" came to an early end with the promise of a renewed harmony and unity, under the benevolent protection of the European Union. Thirty years later, this promise is only partially maintained.

In 1989, VoxEurop was not yet there. But in 2009, Presseurop, which preceded it, yes. In order to relive the spirit of ten years ago, we offer you a selection of the best articles on the subject published by the website we took over in 2014, and wish you a happy reading – and apologies for the images size: Presseurop had a slightly different layout ten years ago.
