Briefing: How far are Europeans to the nearest railway station?

According to the king of paradox Gilbert Keith Chesterton, the "the only way to be sure of catching a train is to miss the one before it". But does anyone get the same chance to reach the train station in the first place?

To answer this question, J++ conducted a new in-depth investigation with contributions by Der Spiegel, BiQdata, LocalFocus, and ourselves, under the coordination of OBC Transeuropa: data journalists analysed 40 million journeys to over 20,000 stations. Also, the consortium checked how affordable train tickets across Europe are.

On another hand, we are happy to have been awarded the second place for the best media at the Good Lobby Awards 2019! A much-appreciated recognition for our work in favour of bringing news that matter to European citizens.
