Ecuador has decided to grantpolitical asylum to the Wikileaks co-founder, Julian Assange, who has been holed up in the South American country's embassy in London since June 19 to avoidextradition to Sweden, where he is due to face charges of rape and sexual assault. Assange has sought political asylum in Ecuador after exhausting the appeals process against the extradition warrant issued by Stockholm.
