Greece: No one is listening

No one is listening – Ilias Makris
I Kathimerini (Athens)

Arriving in Athens on November 5, representatives of the EU-ECB-IMF troika met with the Greek Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras. Their meeting focused on the the question of the country's budget deficit in 2014 along with measures to ensure its compliance.

The troika is counting on a deficit of €2bn, while the Greek government is proposing to present a 2014 budget based on a primary deficit (not counting interest on debt) of €500m. The difference in the method of assessment could compromise the release of further tranche of international financial aid to Greece.
