After hours of talks, EU leaders agreed on 24 October on a new climate and energy deal. “The agreement includes four targets for 2030,” according to EUobserver: reduction of gas emissions by “at least 40 per cent” compared with 1990 levels and “at least 27 percent of the EU’s energy consumption” coming from a renewable sources by 2030, as well as an increase in energy efficiency by “at least 27 percent” and “electricity interconnection worth 15 percent” of installed capacity.
