Prime minister Alexis Tsipras is set to travel to Moscow on 8 April to meet president Vladimir Putin. The visit comes as part of Tsipras' plan to "restart" bilateral relations with Russia, with Greece "building a bridge" between the West and Moscow
Meanwhile, on 1 April Athens submitted to its lenders a list of tax increases aimed at providing the country's treasury with up to €6.1 billion alongside an extra €1.1 billion in new spending commitments. It is hoped that this will fulfill Greece’s debt repayment obligations over the next two weeks and avoid default.
