Will Saakashvili eat his tie again?

Published on 5 June 2015 at 14:31

While fighting between pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian army has flared back up in the east of Ukraine and a ceasefire agreed in Minsk is on the rocks, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has named Mikheïl Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia, to be governor of the Odessa region. His task will be to "reduce the endemic corruption in the Black Sea port and to make it a stronghold against Russian imperialism", the Kyiv Post writes.

Saakashvili, who is considered to be pro-western, had nervously chewed his tie on camera during the conflict between Russian and Georgia in 2008.
