Sarkozy's D-Day gaffe

The French government has failed to invite the Queen of England to the 65th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy this June 6th, and The Daily Mail is furious. With tremulous indignation columnist Stephen Glover calls this “an unbelievable insult”. Nicolas Sarkozy, he fulminates, is “a diminutive egomaniac”, whose “crass behaviour is symptomatic of a deeper national psychosis.” Being that the French cannot forgive Britain “for saving them in World War II.” Meanwhile, across the channel, the French have since said “she is welcome” to attend the commemorations. Going by today's front page, French D-Day Surrender, The Daily Mail has yet to be placated.
