Poland will send another thousand soldiers to Afghanistan to support its 2000-strong contingent in the country, the front page of Polska reports. The move is part of the strategic plan developed by Poland’s defence ministry in response to the appeal by US President Barack Obama to enlarge the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. The Polish decision is still pending approval by the country’s prime minister and president, which, according to the daily, should not be a problem. Poland’s National Security Bureau Chief Aleksander Szczygło has revealed that the political decision to okay the move was taken some time ago. Meanwhile, President Obama is expected to announce tomorrow at West Point the much-awaited decision to send another 30-36,000 American troops to Afghanistan.
