Following a proposal by the Antena 3 television station, Bucharest decided to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest flag. This feat was accomplished on May 27 with a 79,000 square metre banner, which was 330 m long, 220m wide and weighed 5 tonnes.
The flag was unfurled by 200 people at Clinceni airport, near Bucharest, the Romanian daily reports.

This is not our first attempt, explains one of the organisers. We practiced on May 9, on Europe Day when an EU flag was unfurled in front of the Parliament.
