Several Swedish speaking Finnish journalists and organisations, including the editor of Helsingin Sanomat, Riikka Venäläinen, and the newspaper's managing editor, Paula Salovaara, have received anonymous death threats, which were delivered via the Internet last weekend.
The threatening messages announced that the recipients and their families would be murdered and that “blood would flow all the way to Sweden.” Two weeks ago, the same victims received a similar batch of death threats.
According to police, “the threatening mails are the work of one person,” explains Helsingin Sanomat. However, the mails were sent using the Tor network, which can mask the sender’s address and make him or her virtually untraceable.
