‘Victims of the crisis: 5.6 million young jobless in the EU’

“A year after the EU’s adoption of the ‘European Growth Pact’, unemployment has reached record levels,” notes Berlingske :

5.6 million young people, the equivalent of the population of Denmark, are without jobs. Heads of state and government plan to help young people, but experts fear the battle will be in vain.
On June 27 and 28, EU member states are expected to adopt a series of measures backed by a budget of €6bn between now and 2016 to promote youth employment, but, according to specialists consulted by the Danish daily, this effort will be “quite simply inadequate”.
