Vivian Reding, vice-president of the European Commission, arrives in Sofia on July 22 for a conference on the future of Europe and Bulgaria's place within the European Union, reports Bulgaria's Kapital Daily.

Her visit comes as the country is rocked by a wave of discontent against the left-wing government. Reding recently expressed her support for the demonstrators while indicating that she is worried about the country's situation.

Reding, who is also commissioner for Justice, is scheduled to meet Bulgarian president Rosen Plevneliev and justice minister Zinaida Zlatanova to discuss how to re-establish political stability as well as talks between the political parties.
