The US and EU have become embroiled in a row over the development of new air-traffic control systems, which serves as a warning of the difficulties that lie ahead in the transatlantic trade deal currently being negotiated between the two sides.
The spat concerns US and European experts disagreement on timetables for the construction of the revolutionary new system for controlling aircraft both in the air and on the ground, and follows years of successful projects to agree joint aviation regulation.
According to the Wall Street Journal,
While the specific disagreements are technical and compromises are still possible, participants in the process on both sides of the Atlantic worry the conflict could undermine decades-long, multibillion-dollar projects and efforts to establish global standards.
