The Bulgarian parliament will hold an extraordinary session next week – the exact date has yet to be set – in order to vote on a revised budget bill. The move comes after the president vetoed the previous bill. The MPs, most of whom are on vacation, will have to return to Sofia, says Bulgarian daily Standart.
A number of MPs paid a hefty sum, several months ago, for seats in the Verona Arena for the 100th anniversary of the staging of Verdi’s opera, Aida. The performance is expected to “attract members of royal families and of international high society as well as the world’s financial elite”, the paper explains, adding that other MPs:
complained about having to give up expensive airline tickets and holidays abroad, notably in Greece and Italy, due to the extraordinary session.
