“After three years of right-wing coalition government and the loss of a confidence vote by Jiří Rusnok’s “summer” administration, “the parliament is just a step from dissolving itself for the first time in history,” writes MF Dnes.
At least 120 MPs out of 200 in the lower chamber must support such a motion for this to happen, writes the paper, adding that 122 MPs claim to be ready to support the move.
If parliament is dissolved, elections would be held within two months and a during this period all legislative powers pass to the Senate. The right-wing Civic Democrats (ODS) have already asked Rusnok’s provisional government not to “abuse” this situation and push laws through the left-dominated Senate.
