Preparations are in full swing in Stockholm in the run-up to a state visit on September 4-5 of US President Barack Obama, who will be the first sitting president to come to Sweden.

Daily Svenska Dagbladet reports that police are launching a massive security operation, while 15 organisations have sought permission to hold demonstrations.

Among them the “Sept 4 Network”, which under the banner, “No, to Big Brother Obama”, wants to protest against illegal communications monitoring by the National Security Agency, as well as the postponement of the closure of Guantanamo detention camp, and “extrajudicial killings” carried out by American drones in the Middle East.
