Democratic Party opposition MP and former minister of transport Sokol Olldashi, 41, died on November 20 in an accident on the Tirana-Elbasan road, reports Gazeta Shqiptare.

The car in which he was travelling skidded off the road in heavy rain before toppling into a ravine.

In the last message on his Facebook page, Olldashi congratulated the “thousands of young people” who joined him in protesting against plans to decommission Syria’s chemical arsenal in Albania, notes the daily. The government in Tirana announced on November 15 that it would not take part in the project.
