Speaking in Tallinn, Estonia, on 3 September, on the way to the Nato summit in Wales, United States president Barack Obama assured the Baltic States they are safe under the military pact’s umbrella, Gazeta Wyborcza reports. President Obama stressed that —

we will defend our Nato allies, and that means every ally. In this alliance, there are no old members or new members, no junior partners or senior partners. […] And we will defend the territorial integrity of every single ally. […] The defence of Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius is as important as the defense of Berlin, Paris and London.
At the same time, also ahead of the NATO summit, France has decided to suspend the delivery of Mistral warships to Russia, the Warsaw daily notes and adds that —
since the annexation of Crimea this is perhaps the biggest distress that the Europeans, dependent on Russia’s natural resources, have dared to create for Vladimir Putin.
