The peace conference about how to stop the Islamic State (IS), organised by French president François Hollande and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Massum, starts in Paris on this 15 September. Twenty European and Arabic leaders will attend the summit. The aim is to build a “coalition of the willing” for a military intervention in Iraq. Forty countries already have agreed to participate.

After the decapition of the British hostage David Haines last week the pressure from the UK and the USA to take action is rising. “All the more because a second British civilian, Alan Henning, is threatened to be the next victim”, writes the Belgian paper.
