"The PSD and the CDS want to revise the Constitution to carry forward the Troika agenda [International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank and European Commission]," headlines Público, reporting that the new Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho (Leader of the Social Democratic Party, PSD, winner of the legislative electionson 5 June) and Paulo Portas (leader of the Christian Democrats, CDS-PP) have already reached an agreement to form a new government. According to Público, "the two partners will present a common draft of constitutional reform to tackle areas as sensitive as reforms to the political system, the judiciary and the regulatory bodies, and to impose a limit on public debt under the basic law of Portugal". The task of the new executive is far from easy, writes the Lisbon daily, since the coalition will have to win over the Socialist Party (the opposition) to carry out the constitutional reform.
