The pedophilia scandals involving Catholic clergy are now a Europe-wide phenomenon. At the end of March, the Church hierarchy in Switzerland, where a large number of chid-abuse incidents have been reported, admitted that it had "underestimated" the scope of the problem, and called on victims to file complaints in the courts.
