26 April 1986 saw the explosion of the nuclear power station in Chernobyl, Ukraine. As the 25th anniversary is commemorated, the accident at the Fukushima nuclear station in Japan has rekindled fears overt nuclear safety and forced European countries to reconsider its role in providing electricity.
