Lietuvos žinios

Founded in 1909 in Vilnius, the "Lithuanian News" is the country's oldest newspaper. Its publication was halted by World War I (1915-1922) and the Soviet occupation of Lithuania (1940-1990), but since Lithuania's independence in 1990 it has become a daily newspaper of record, close to the Social Democratic Party. It is owned by the Achema industrial group.
