Founded after the 1989 revolution by liberal intellectuals from the Group For Social Dialogue, the 22 of the title refers to December 22nd, the day Nicolae Ceaucescu fled the Communist party’s Central Committee building by helicopter following the incidents at Timişoara which led to his downfall. A free market advocate specialising in in-depth political and socio-economic analysis, Revista 22 is rated the country’s finest political and cultural weekly with prestigious contributors from Romania and abroad. Both the print edition and website are subscriber financed. The website hosts well-regarded blogs by Cristian Preda and Vladimir Tismaneanu.
