In the wake of the signature of an association agreement between the EU and Moldova, American Secretary of State John Kerry visited the country on December 4 to congratulate the government in Chişinău. Quoted by Adevărul Moldova, Kerry remarked that ”European integration is the best road” for the modernisation of the country.
The Moldovan government is now hoping that the free-trade deal currently being negotiated by the EU and the United States will bring more business and investment to the country, points out the daily.
John Kerry also voiced ”Washington’s support for Moldovan wines, confirming that their access to the US market would be facilitated,” reports the newspaper. Moldova is currently subject to a Russian embargo on its wine exports, and the EU has already committed to giving Moldovan wine free access to its market from January 1, 2014.
