With two-thirds of votes counted, it seems that the pro-Western and pro-EU parties have won the 26 october general elections in Ukraine. According to Ukrainsky Tyzhden, prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s People’s Front is leading, followed by president Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc and Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi’s Samopomich (Self Reliance). The three of them are expected to obtain more than 50 per cent of seats in the new Parliament. The pro-Russian Opposition Bloc should be in fourth position. Far-right parties do not appear to have reached the 5 per cent election threshold.
