James Heartfield is journalist and a researcher at Queen Mary University in London. He is the author of several books including Need and Desire in the Post-Material Economy, The Death of the Subject Explained, Green Capitalism: Manufacturing Scarcity in an Age of Abundance and, most recently, The Aborigines' Protection Society: Humanitarian Imperialism in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, South Africa, and the Congo, 1837-1909. He has contributed to publications including New Geography, Mute, Blueprint, the Guardian and Spiked. His website is Heartfield.org.
