Carlo Bastasin is een Italiaanse journalist met een doctorstitel in Internationale Monetaire Betrekkingen. Werkte tussen 1989 en 1999 als correspondent voor Il Sole 24 Ore in Berlijn en Frankfurt. Ging daarna aan de slag als adjunct-hoofdredacteur bij La Stampa, om daarna terug te komen als senior redacteur bij Il Sole. Tevens schrijver van het boek Destra e sinitstra - politiche chiuse, economia aperta [Lett. 'Links en rechts - gesloten politiek, open economie', Università Bocconi, 2007].
