George Monbiot (1963) is de meest vooraanstaande milieuactivist annex journalist. Hij houdt een blog bij en heeft een wekelijkse column in The Guardian. Ook heeft hij een aantal boeken geschreven, waaronder Captive State: The Corporate Takeover of Britain (2000) en Bring on the Apocalypse: Six Arguments for Global Justice (2008) en in Nederland verscheen in 2008 onder zijn naam het boek Hitte.
