"Vrij Roemenië" heet deze krant van intellectuelen en de middenklasse. Het blijft zijn naam trouw door een liberale en onafhankelijke koers te varen. Dit nieuws- en opinieblad werd in 1877 opgericht en is tot 1989 desalniettemin één van de spreekbuizen van de Roemeense communistische partij geweest.
