The leader of French the far right Front National, Marine Le Pen did not succeed in forming a populist and eurosceptic group in the European Parliament before the 24 June deadline, which means that her party will now miss out on extra EU financing and other advantages. To create a parliamentary group, she would have had to reach agreement with MEPs from at least six other member states. Le Pen's ouverture to Britain's UKIP was notably dismissed by party leader Nigel Farage.
