Switzerland's national anthem since 1981, today the Swiss Psalm appears "dusty, complicated, and slow. Worse still, hardly anyone knows it by heart," remarks Le Matin.
Now the Swiss Public Welfare Society, which manages patriotic events, has decided to launch a competition to modernise the national anthem, and to bring out a new version by 2015.
However, the daily also points out that "in recent years, all the attempts to change the national anthem have failed."
