“2010 revealed a lot of information that politicians, administrators, diplomats and ordinary people would much rather have kept secret,” writes Visão in its annual news round-up entitled, “The year of the end of secrets.” The last 12 months have been marked by such a welter of stories about millionaire salaries, wire taps, WikiLeaks cables, and compromising pictures on Facebook, it is as though “the world has become an enormous keyhole which no one can resist looking through." As for the figures and institutions that have dominated the year, the weekly singles out the financial markets as having had the greatest impact on Portugal, and WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has having had the greatest impact on the world.
