Supporters of Catalan independence will form a human chain on September 11 – Catalonia's national day – stretching some 400km through the territory from the French border to the boundary with Valencia, to show support for a referendum on independence.
Event organisers, including pro-independence groups that already have the backing of the regional government, led by Artur Mas, hope the spectacle will draw attention to the debate.
