"Three years after the beginning of the crisis, Europe is abandoning Germany's austerity 'recipe,'" writes Greek daily To Ethnos, commenting on the Commission's budgetary recommendations to the member states unveiled on May 29.
Brussels "seems to have woken up and is heading towards development," the paper says, adding that –
Although Berlin, grudgingly, gave the ‘green light’ to the EU's change in direction, the Franco-German axis is waking up and took the initiative of proposing a plan to battle youth unemployment. Berlin wants to bolster the countries in southern Europe through bilateral accords and the Commission has confirmed the change in direction towards less austerity and more growth.
