“The government and the Green party block the Sweden Democrats on asylum policy,” exults Dagens Nyheter, which speaks of an “historic” agreement. On 3 March, the conservative Swedish government and the Greens agreed on facilitating access to care and schooling for undocumented aliens, on facilitating family reunification and on reforming labour immigration policy. “The five parties [of the coalition of the right] are denying the Sweden Democrats, a party based on a single issue, that very same single issue,” remarks Dagens Nyheter, referring to the xenophobic party that made its debut in Parliament last September. “It is both cunning and democratically correct”. “After all,” the paper recalls, “94.3 percent of Swedish voters did not vote for a xenophobic party (...) This shows a real willingness to assume responsibility for important issues, and we must especially commend the Greens.”
