Poland has overtaken large southern European economies in terms of competitiveness, enthuses Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. According to the recently published World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Index, Poland has overtaken Spain, Greece and Italy, advancing to 39th place in the world from 46th last year. Why such a big leap? Experts quoted by the daily point to several factors: a rapidly growing domestic market, flexible labour regulations and a healthy banking system. The most competitive EU countries are Sweden (2nd place in the ranking) followed by Germany (5), Finland (7), Netherlands (8) and Denmark (9).
