On 12 September, the European Parliament approved by 448 votes against 197 the report by Green MEP Judith Sargentini, calling for the sanction procedure provided for in Article 7 of the EU Treaty to be initiated against Viktor Orbán's Government for breaching the fundamental principles of the Union, particularly regarding minorities, migrants, and freedom of information.
