I will not back off!
One more step in the confrontation between the Catalan separatist executive body and the Spanish government was taken on 21 October, when Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy triggered the Constitution's article 155, ending Catalonia's autonomy and bringing it under Madrid's direct rule, once the Senate – where Rajoy enjoys the majority – approve the move.

On the same day, Catalonia's President Carles Puigdemont is set to proclaim either the region's independence or snap polls for the regional Parliament.
