A radically just, sustainable, democratic and happy society for the 21st century is possible!

A group of European citizens are advocating for the Society of Agreement, aimed at social justice, democracy and sustainability. They are inviting people to join their cooperative to make this vision a reality before 2050.

We are a group of European Union citizens of 8 nationalities. Our conviction: a radically just, sustainable, democratic and happy society is possible in the 21st century, in the European Union and in the world. We call it the Society of Agreement. We founded the CosmoPolitical Cooperative to give ourselves the means to make it a reality, before 2050, by taking action now, at every level, from the individual to the European Union. We invite you to join us.

Like you, we are aware of the growing number of interlinked crises (environmental, climatic, social, democratic) and wars, the rise of brutality and extreme right-wing ideas. Sometimes we feel scared and discouraged. But we don't give in to it. On the contrary, we are convinced that a radically just, sustainable, democratic and happy society is possible for the 21st century. We call it the Society of Agreement. It rests on three pillars

  • an unprecedented level of social justice, equality and confidence in the future for all (agreement between humans on the distribution of resources);
  • an unprecedented level of democracy in all public institutions and private organisations, at all levels, from the smallest company or association to the European Union (agreement between humans on decisions); and
  • healthy, simple and sustainable modes of consumption and production, according to the motto "Live simply, so that everyone can simply live", i.e. environmental sustainability (agreement between humans and the laws governing the geo-biosphere on which we depend), with the prospect of maintaining human civilisation indefinitely.

The Society of Agreement is a radically new social contract and a global societal alternative to the current paradigm.

We have founded the CosmoPolitical Cooperative, a European Cooperative Society, to act together to make this vision of the future a reality, in 2050 or sooner:

  • Relying on our top-level IT platform, we are working towards the Society of Agreement in the following ways: (1) we are supporting concrete projects by Co-operators aimed at environmental or social sustainability, (2) we are creating sustainable business prototypes, (3) we are initiating and participating in sustainability dialogues in the workplace, and (4) we are defining and implementing public policies at all levels (from the commune to the European Union);
  • We are following a three-stage strategy to achieve the Society  of Agreement: (1) pan-European democracy in 2030, so that we have sufficiently strong, legitimate and unified political power at EU level to overcome the resistance of the rich and powerful, (2) social justice in 2040, so that everyone has the confidence in the future needed to embark on radical transformations of their way of life, (3) environmental sustainability in 2050, forreasons of the simple survival of human civilisation;
  • We offer a very wide range of levels of commitment: receiving a newsletter, taking training courses open to all, contributing financially to our activities, taking part in discussions in our Community or in the decisions of our Cooperative.

We know, and accept, that the road to the Society of Agreement will be long and difficult. We are aware of the enormity of the task before us, of the radical nature of the transformations we are bringing about, and of the resistance they will arouse from the rich and powerful - and the media that are subservient to them. But we also know that the time has come for us to act, and that the only totally unrealistic option is to continue our society's mad race towards the abyss, in a deadly 'business as usual'.
