Born in Trieste in 1939, Claudio Magris is a prize-winning author. His best-known works include: Inferences from a Sabre (1984), Danube (1986) Stadelmann and (1988) Microcosms (1997). A columnist for the Milan daily, Corriere della Sera, he is also published by many European newspapers.
