Boris Johnson, former mayor of London and former foreign secretary has been appointed new prime minister of the UK on 24 July, after he was elected as new leader of the conservative party on 23 July, with 66 % of the votes.

The new prime minister promised to take the UK out of the EU by 31 October, with or without a Brexit deal.
