Country prepares to swing left

As Denmark heads to the polls in early parliamentary elections called for September 15, the opposition centre-left (red) led by the Social Democrats is expected to take over from the outgoing conservative majority (blue), led by the Liberal minority partner, Lars Løkke Rasmussen. "You decide", headlinesBerlingske, writing that more than four million Danes are eligible to vote. Opinion polls suggest the opposition should take 51.2 percent of the vote. The leader of the Social Democratic Party, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, would "likely" be the next prime minister. If she does win, a "daunting task" awaits her, the newspaper notes: “saving Denmark's welfare state" in these times of crisis.
