On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Serbian president Tomislav Nikolić (left) is to meet the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton(centre), to discuss his country's relations with Kosovo, a stumbling block in Serbia's accession to the EU. Nikolić has refused to recognise the former Serbian province as a state and is unwilling to meet the president of Kosovo Hashim Thaci (right), also present in New York, unless the International Court of the Hague lifts war-crimes charges against Serbs in the Kosovo war (1999).
