Enric Juliana (b. 1957), journalist, worked for the TVE (Spanish television) news service and the newspapers El Mundo and El Paísbefore joining the editorial staff of La Vanguardia in 1991. From 1997 to 2000 he served as its correspondent in Italy, and in 2000 became assistant director of the newspaper. He is the paper’s representative in Madrid, where he analyses national policy from a Catalan perspective. Juliana is the author of several books of political commentary, including La España de los pingüinos (Spain of the Penguins) and La deriva de España (Spain Adrift).
