Philosopher Fernando Savater (b. 1947) is one of Spain's most influential thinkers. Former Professor of Ethics at the University of the Basque Cuuntry, he now teaches philosophy at Madrid's Complutense University. His most recent works include Los diez mandamientos del siglo XXI (The Ten Commandments of the 20th Century) et Historia de la Filosofía. Sin temor ni temblor (History of Philosophy – Without Fear or Trembling). In 2000, Fernando Savater won the European Parliament's Sakharov award for Freedom of Thought, along with the Basque association Basta Ya.
