On 4 December Portugal's Finance minister Mario Centeno has been elected as president of the Eurogroup, where the ministers of Finances of the Eurozone seat. He will replace his Dutch fellow Jeroen Dijsselbloem. Centeno has been a critic of the austerity policies implemented by the European commission and the Eurogroup during the economic crisis.
